Following President Kennedy's assasination in 1963, Congress acted swiftly in a special session to override law prohibiting minting a coin with a person's face who has been living withing the last four years.
Kennedy half dollars have a very interesting composition history. This year, 1964, they were composed of 90% silver. 1965-1969 were 40% silver. 1970 and later are clad copper.
There are no exceptionally rare dates. The 1964 proof has a heavily accented hair variety.
Each 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar contains 0.3575 oz silver.

No wear. Full mint luster. Minimal wear. Some mint luster remains. Minor wear. Some mint luster may remain. Still great design devices. The high end of a mid-grade coin. Spent several months in circulation. Mid grade coin. Nice example. May have some detracting features. Significant wear, but all devices are recognizable. Not a bad coin at all. We like to say these coins served their country well! hehe This coin has been around the block a time or two! Imagine the stories it could tell. Barely recognizable.
