In 1879, the US Mint worked out a lot of kinks from the first year of production. There are still some great varieties in 1879 Morgan dollars though!
Mintage
Philadelphia: 14,806,000
Carson City: 756,000
New Orleans: 2,887,000
San Francisco: 9,110,000
No wear. Full mint luster. Minimal wear. Some mint luster remains. Minor wear. Some mint luster may remain. Still great design devices. The high end of a mid-grade coin. Spent several months in circulation. Mid grade coin. Nice example. May have some detracting features. Significant wear, but all devices are recognizable. Not a bad coin at all. We like to say these coins served their country well! hehe This coin has been around the block a time or two! Imagine the stories it could tell. Barely recognizable.
