Most people don't realize that a Mercury Dime is really a "Liberty Head Dime". The term "Mercury" comes from the improper belief that the Roman God Mercury is on the coin. In all actuality, the picture is of Miss Liberty with wings on her helm which represent the "Freedom of thought."
1916 was the first year of the Mercury dime series.
Mercury dimes are composed of 90% silver and 10% copper alloy. Each Mercury dime contains 0.0715 oz silver. 1916-D is the key of Mercury dimes.
No wear. Full mint luster. Minimal wear. Some mint luster remains. Minor wear. Some mint luster may remain. Still great design devices. The high end of a mid-grade coin. Spent several months in circulation. Mid grade coin. Nice example. May have some detracting features. Significant wear, but all devices are recognizable. Not a bad coin at all. We like to say these coins served their country well! hehe This coin has been around the block a time or two! Imagine the stories it could tell. Barely recognizable.
