The very first year of Indian Head Cents! Indians are a truly loved collection. Only a handful of coins are more than modestly priced, allowing most collecters to assemble a collection. Only the 1877, 1908-S, and 1909-S are out of reach of even young collectors. I find that his is usually the 5th or 6th series collectors work on.
These were designed by James Longacre.
1859 Mintage 36,000,000
composition 88% copper 12% nickel
No wear. Full mint luster. Minimal wear. Some mint luster remains. Minor wear. Some mint luster may remain. Still great design devices. The high end of a mid-grade coin. Spent several months in circulation. Mid grade coin. Nice example. May have some detracting features. Significant wear, but all devices are recognizable. Not a bad coin at all. We like to say these coins served their country well! hehe This coin has been around the block a time or two! Imagine the stories it could tell. Barely recognizable.
